Best of Love Your Work! 35 Years of Short Film

LOVE YOUR WORK! - 2 nights of outstanding local short films on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November at the newly constructed Open Channel Theatrette at Shed 4 - Docklands.

But this year there is a twist! To celebrate 35 years of Open Channel programmer Marc Gracie (who also dons the producer hat at Open Channel) has put together a unique program with the best shorts from 2009 alongside landmark Victorian shorts from the last 35 years, including early films from directors Matt Saville, (Noise), Richard Frankland (Stone Bros), Glendyn Ivin (Last Ride), 1980s comedy classic Bonza and Samuel Johnson's (TV's Rush, The Secret Life of Us) breakthrough performance in AFI Award winner "Sparky D Goes to Town".

Representing the best of 2009 is the comedy of Jehan Ratnatunga's "Ctrl + P" (Control-Plus-P) and Spike McKenzie's "Smooth", the gripping drama of Sally Pitts' "Light" and Tim Dean's "Fences", Tom Vogel's black comedy "One in a Million" and the experimental stylings of Justin Olstein's "Opening Day".

And the noughties also get a look in with 2004 TropFest finalist "Too Far", the moving family story of "Paul's Beautiful Laundrette", rising star Dustin Feneley's "Apprentice", the Sundance selected documentary "Lessons From the Night" and MIFF-selected experimental short "Side by Side".
