Open Channel Producer Marc Gracie's latest film 'The Tumbler' screened last night at Cinema Nova ahead of its theatrical release run which starts on September 2. A taut thriller with a distinct political edge, The Tumbler marks a change of pace for Marc, whose previous three films (The Craic, Take Away, You and Your Stupid Mate) are, in his own words, Dumb Ass comedies ;-)
The film was nothing short of fantastic and not only delivered great to watch characters but also a film which looked great and was shot beautifully. And it's not just us saying so. According to FilmInk Magazine, "It delivers an intriguing and swiftly paced narrative." Certain scenes were carried out so well that it has you sitting on the edge of your seat.
As an added bonus there was a Q&A with Marc Gracie and former Roadshow and Disney GM Alan Finney at the end of the screening, where they discussed the films short shooting schedule and how they managed to shoot the entire thing in 15 days on location in Broken Hill. The conversation also looked at the origins of the project, and in particular, the processes he and Screenwriter Chris Thompson employed in putting together the film.
We are all terribly proud of Marc and The Tumbler and encourage all our readers to look out for screening times at Cinema Nova and around the country.
